Hello Parents!
I am Ashley Nielson (or Mrs. Nielson as your children know me). I am so excited to be teaching your children this year! I am a mother of 2 children myself and absolutely love being around kids. While I always wanted more than 2 children, I discovered the best solution to this is to be a teacher where I am constantly surrounded by young smiling faces. Aside from kids, I have long been fascinated by nutrition, the cultures or the world, the outdoors, biking, and bugs. I look forward to providing twists to lessons that include the things I am most passionate about, and I hope to share this fascination with your children as well as to discover what fascinates them.
As a mother and a teacher I expect children to behave in a way that is respectful to everyone. As a student I expect them to do the work required and to get help when needed. Of course, I will closely monitor each student so that I know when any assistance would be beneficial, but by the end of the year every student should have full responsibility of their education. I aim to show every child how to access learning resources so that they are able to complete assignments no matter the grade level. I also expect them to learn how to create a network with classmates so they know how to form study groups or know who has a computer they can use should they need one for an assignment. And while I am doing all the teaching at school, I am more than happy for you to expand on these assignments at home. I am always ecstatic to have parents involved in the classroom because it makes my teaching that much more effective and long-lasting. Any parent interested in broadening and encouraging the education of their child is a parent I want to see.
If you ever need to contact me I can be emailed at ashleynielson@u.boisestate.edu and I can generally provide a reply within 24 hours. I can also be reached by phone at 208-697-2610. Lastly, you are always welcome to visit me at my office in Room 332. Before or after class is best, but if there is only a small window in which you can speak with me I am happy to work something out.
I look forward to meeting you all soon!
Mrs. Ashley Nielson
